Governing body diversity
Signhills Academy recognises that a diversity of perspectives, experiences and backgrounds on our governing body strengthens strategic decision-making and helps us to serve all of our pupils and families well. We are committed to building a governing body that, over time, increasingly reflects our school community.
We collect diversity information from our governors on a voluntary basis. We use this information to understand the composition of our board, to identify gaps in experience and background, and to inform our approach when recruiting new governors. Governors may opt out of sharing their information at any time.
As a single academy trust with a small governing body, we are unable to publish detailed diversity data as doing so would make individual governors identifiable. We are, however, committed to transparency about our approach: when governor vacancies arise, we actively welcome expressions of interest from people of all backgrounds, and we consider how each appointment can contribute to a broader range of skills, experience and perspective on the board.
If you are interested in finding out more about the role of a school governor or would like to discuss a potential vacancy, please contact the school office.
