From September 2026, all schools are required by law to have a dedicated Allergy Safety Policy, to train all staff in allergy awareness and emergency response, and to stock spare adrenaline auto-injectors for use in an emergency. These requirements, commonly known as Benedict's Law, are set out in the Children's Wellbeing and Schools Act 2026.

At Signhills Academy, every member of staff now receives annual allergy awareness training, spare EpiPens and spare asthma inhalers are held on site and taken on all school trips, and Individual Healthcare Plans are in place (from September 2026) for every pupil with a known allergy that falls under the scope of the guidance. The Headteacher is the school's Designated Allergy Safety Lead.
